There are two types of debts and fines you could get from a court.
A County Court Judgement (CCJ). This could be for something like an unpaid credit card bill. Good news! CCJs can be included in one of our debt solutions like an Individual Voluntary Agreement (IVA) or Trust Deed.
Your court debts are made a priority and paid off in full first, before payments to other creditors are worked out. Remember, the debt solution will only ask you to pay what you can reasonably afford each month, so you can breathe a sigh of relief, and focus on getting yourself straightened out.
Court fees for losing a trial, driving fines and other such court debts and fines. Unfortunately these can’t be included in a debt solution.
It means that you need to resolve these by paying them in full in court, or you may face serious consequences. These could involve bankruptcy, bailiffs or even potentially prison. You can go to StepChange for help and support.
